With all of this hot weather and sunny days amongst us, it really got me thinking about what things are best to do this summer in the heart of London. London for me is a great city as there is always, and I mean always, something to do. There are many landmarks to go and visit and vibrant venues to always cast your eyes on.
For me it’s always a thing of;
‘Where in London is best to go to? or ‘What things are there to do?’
Now that’s the million-dollar question, and my magic venue senses come through!
If you’re out and about in London or you want a quick weekend getaway this summer to catch some of those treasured rays, and enjoy everything the summer has to offer, with some scrumptious street food or a secret rooftop bar area for an evening reception for a client, I’ve picked out a few of my favourite places to visit when in London. These can be great for planning an event or just some causal social time out with your friends.
Hidden away in busy streets of Shoreditch this venue offers an open-air playground perfect for those long summer evenings where no-one wants to be inside. With event space for up to 200 guests, this venue has so much to offer. Sectioned off with nine different street food venders and eight bars, guests will definitely be spoilt for choice. This venue is more causal in contrast to some others that will be outlined, however Dinerama is the perfect meeting ground and great for a causal team lunch or afterwork chill out zone.
This is a brand-new venue for summer 2018 located in the grounds of the Geffrye Museum in the heart of Shoreditch. This would be a perfect place for casual meetings, dinners or if you want to plan an outdoor drinks reception. The venue can offer a semi-permanent marquee that can be placed on the grounds in case you are opting for some shade or a base for people to convene at. The garden is surrounded by a range of bars and offers exclusive space for clients to host those all great summer parties.
Sea Containers is situated a stone-throw away from Blackfriars Bridge with impressive views from the iconic roof terrace across the city of London, with amazing sights of the River Thames and the London Eye. This venue comprises five unique spaces all of which occupy outdoor terraces and stylish interiors – a great location and experience for any summer event. Next door is The Rumpus Room which is a swanky rooftop bar inside the Mondrian hotel it is great if you are opting for a reception and canopies networking event or if you just want an excuse to get dressed up and have a good time with your friends.
City Summer House
If you want to opt for a super relaxed summer evening lounging on a giant bean bag or if you want to book the whole venue for a big summer party for an internal or external event, City Summer House is the perfect venue for this. Located in Shoreditch, Brick Lane, The City Summer House has held team building days, summer conferences and even BBQ lunches – This venue for sure is at the top of my list this summer!
PITCH Stratford, London
PITCH is a feel-good, vibrant, outdoor venue, with retro styling, 80’s party booths and bright colours throughout the venue, located in the heart of Stratford, London. This exclusive space can be used as an open-air cinema, a roof terrace or for street food. Located deep in East London this venue space can host up to 400 people, beneath its canopy, perfect for those summer evening receptions or summer product launches.
Subtly moving away from venues onto something just as good… food!
Nothing beats the smell of a BBQ on a warm summer evening, however when the British weather works in our favour and produces some amazing sunshine, sometimes not all of us like to be sat outside, or the British weather just isn’t that great (not unusual). A true favourite of mine is Blacklock and their barbecued lamb or pork chops piled up on a plate – very tasty and reasonable priced too.
Whether or not you will be attending a summer event this year in London, there are plenty of places for you to enjoy a relaxed evening in the sunshine with a G&T, and some good food.
